D-Link Introduces Breakthrough Wi-Fi Cloud Solution for SMBs

Powered by CloudCommand, Online Software Platform Delivers Affordable Business-Grade Wi-Fi to Small- and Medium-Sized Businesses

D-Link, the end-to-end networking solutions provider for consumers, businesses, and service providers, today announced that it has launched the world’s first business-grade, cloud-managed Wi-Fi solution specifically built to meet the connectivity and security needs of small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs)(1). The new DAP-2555 AirPremier® N Dual Band, PoE Access Point powered by CloudCommand™ delivers a Wi-Fi environment with core business-grade features for a fraction of what traditional enterprise solutions cost, filling the product gap between non-scalable, consumer-grade Wi-Fi products and complex, expensive enterprise platforms within the SMB market.

Through a strategic agreement with PowerCloud™ Systems, the D-Link® DAP-2555 Access Point integrates CloudCommand, an online software platform based on patented network virtualization and usable security technologies. The DAP-2555 Access Point provides end users and value-added resellers (VARs) the ability to quickly and easily set up, secure, and manage wireless networks with multiple access points and locations to provide thorough coverage. In addition, VARs save significant time and resources by managing networks remotely through the cloud.

“Our cloud-managed Wi-Fi products are breakthrough solutions that will make affordable, business-grade Wi-Fi a reality for small businesses,” said Nick Tidd, President, D-Link. “We’re excited to collaborate with PowerCloud Systems to leverage its innovative technology and provide a robust solution for our customers. In addition, our channel partners are eager to sell this new Wi-Fi solution because it not only meets the needs of their customers, but its integrated service capabilities will deliver better profitability and improved customer relationships.”

The ideal business environment for DAP-2555 Access Point is an organization with 5 to 300 users who need an affordable, wireless network that delivers broad and reliable connectivity, strong security, and guest Internet access in one easy-to-use solution. Additional key features and benefits include:

  • Deploys multiple, self-configuring access points to single or multiple locations in minutes
  • Allows remote management — online, anytime, anywhere
  • Provides IT administrators individual, user management with two-factor authentication and encryption
  • Manages multiple networks from a single interface and simultaneously configures all access points
  • Reviews statistics and graphic reports
  • Deploys intrusion detection
  • Receives e-mail and Short Message Service (SMS) notifications
  • Creates a guest network with firewall protection

“D-Link is the first major networking vendor to offer a cloud-based Wi-Fi networking solution, and we’re excited they chose CloudCommand,” said Jeff Abramowitz, President and CEO, PowerCloud Systems. “For businesses needing enterprise-grade 802.11n Wi-Fi connectivity with enhanced security capabilities across one or multiple locations, this is the most cost-effective solution in the market. As the world’s largest supplier of Wi-Fi infrastructure products*, D-Link is well positioned to use its channel presence, manufacturing prowess, and worldwide operations to drive a paradigm shift in the industry.”
