Concerning enabling Intel VT

Hello there

I'm completely new to this forum but not to virtualization. I would like to run a 64 bit guest system on Virtual Box under Ubuntu 64 bit host but Virtual Box tells me that I need to enable Intel VT to be able to do that. I located the option on the BIOS but I'm concerned about enabling this because I don't know how will it impact my everyday work. This is the PC where I work and play.

So, does enabling Intel VT affect the general performance of the computer or the way it works? Will other software (not virtualization related) be affected by enabling this option on my BIOS?

Hello Sergio,

Welcome to Virtualization.net! According to virtualbox, enabling VT may degrade performance of the Virtual machines. However, I don't see any reason why it would cause any other issues. If you experience any serious performance issues, you can just disable VT.
