VDI's advantages vs disadvantages:

* advantage of simpler provisioning of new desktops but it is a challenge in setting up and maintaining drivers for printers and other peripherals
* advantage of reduced downtime in the event of server or client hardware-failures but faces increased downtime in the event of network failures
* advantage of lower cost of deploying new applications but difficulty in running certain complex applications (such as multimedia)
* advantage of desktop image-management capabilities but complexity and high costs of VDI deployment and management
* longer refresh cycle for client desktop infrastructure but some loss of user autonomy and privacy
* advantage of secure remote access to an enterprise desktop environment but potential security risks if the network is not properly managed.
