Default New, slightly confused. Help?

Hello all,
I am attempting to configure a virtualization set-up for a small internal web application. Firstly, I have one physical server (an HP DL360 G5) and I am considering the possibility of installing ESXi 5.x to run a couple of VMs on it.

I would like to run openfiler and a web server at the same time. I have a Qlogic QLE2462 fiber HBA that connects to a disk shelf. Now, how can I manage the volumes with openfiler, but connect to the openfiler volume from the web server?

It may be confusing, but I'm basically trying to run a DB and an internal web server on the same machine. How can the two VMs communicate? Can ESXi virtualize a high speed fiber connection between the two VMs, or do I need to settle with something slower? This web server will be connected to by many clients, and I would like them to utilize the full 4GB FC connection (from openfiler to HDDs). Can I virtualize a FC connection? I would like to run an FC target on openfiler, to utilize the speed. I could settle with iSCSI. What are my options for VM interconnect? Virtualize a gigabit connection? Physically connect ethernet cable from one NIC to the other, and assign a NIC to each OS?

As you can see, I am mostly confused with how cross-VM communication on one physical server works in ESXi (or VMWare for that matter).

Thank you for your time and assistance,
SAM
