Marine Resources Group Makes the Move to the Cloud with Virtustream xStream

Virtustream, Inc., the leading cloud solutions provider, today announced that Marine Resources Group (MRG), one of the largest maritime services companies in the United States, has deployed Virtustream’s xStream enterprise cloud solution to drive profitability and maintain its competitive edge in the marine services market.

MRG, located in Seattle, Wash., was established by Saltchuk Resources, a global transportation, real estate and energy firm, as a holding company for investments in tug, barge and ancillary marine service companies. MRG has the largest and most capable coastal tug and barge fleet in the United States offering the broadest range of services including contract towing, harbor services, liner and barge operations and vessel repair and construction.

Marine Resources Group sought a cloud service provider with operational expertise in both SAP and non-SAP specific applications that could provide the cloud managed services required to run their mission critical enterprise systems. MRG was attracted by the enhanced performance, lower TCO and embedded disaster recovery benefits of Virtustream’s SAP certified cloud services.

MRG has moved their production SAP systems onto Virtustream’s xStream™ platform, as well as additional back office applications including Taxware, for sales tax calculations, Markview, a digital imaging solution and Mowego, a mobile app server amongst others. MRG looked to Virtustream provide a comprehensive solution, reduce the challenges and costs associated with their current technology refresh cycles, simplify their support functions and improve their disaster recovery capabilities.
