AppProtex Cloud Data Protection Gateway meets compliance requirements in Canada

Perspecsys, the leader in enterprise cloud data protection gateway solutions, today announced that Human Care Systems is extending its successful European deployment of Perspecsys’ AppProtex Cloud Data Protection Gateway to power its growing Canadian operations. Human Care Systems initially selected Perspecsys’ solution because of its ability to provide the highest levels of data compliance and protection without impacting the usability and functionality of the cloud-based SaaS applications used by their business. Perspecsys’ advanced architecture and highly secure form of tokenization allows Human Care Systems to easily comply with an increasingly complex set of data governance requirements that are emerging around the globe while they enjoy the business benefits of using the latest SaaS cloud applications.

Human Care Systems is a leading provider of high-impact patient, physician and pharmacist support services for 15 of the top 20 pharmaceutical companies in the world. As a global leader in delivering patient personalized support, Human Care Systems delivers service and support solutions to maximize use of therapies, real world outcomes and evidence collected. “Cloud SaaS applications provide Human Care Systems with unmatched flexibility and the power to store and process sensitive medical data in a highly efficient and accessible platform,” said Andrew Taff, director of operations and technology.

“By deploying Perspecsys’ cloud data protection gateway solution for our European operations, we are able to ensure the privacy of our Customer Identifiable Information while maintaining SaaS application performance, a critical factor for our employees and customers. Based on the continued success of the Perspecsys deployment in Europe, we are pleased to be rolling out the solution in Canada to meet the strict data protection regulations that safeguard patient data in that country.”

Organizations operating in Canada must navigate complex data compliance and residency laws. For example, there are 28 federal, provincial and territorial privacy statutes that govern the protection of personal information in the private, public and health sectors. Human Care Systems will rely on Perspecsys’ proven tokenization techniques to protect information as it moves to the cloud. By replacing sensitive data fields, such as a patient’s name or scanned image from a medical record, with surrogate values called tokens, Human Care Systems can solve the data compliance and privacy challenges associated with storing and processing data in the cloud.

“Human Care Systems’ decision to expand its use of the AppProtex Gateway is a further testament to the impact of the Perspecsys solution as it empowers organizations to take full advantage of the cloud-based SaaS applications while ensuring that sensitive, regulated data remains on premise and under complete enterprise control,” said David Canellos, president and CEO, Perspecsys. “The continued enterprise push to the cloud is bringing a new set of data compliance and governance challenges to the forefront. We work hand-in-hand with valued customers like Human Care Systems to enable compliance with a myriad of regulations across the globe so they can take full advantage of the business benefits of the cloud.”
