As government moves toward more integrated IT environments, a network that supports open, innovative business processes and increasingly high bandwidth applications is critical. Architecture requirements are changing rapidly – hierarchical platforms currently in place in many agencies aren’t providing the scalability, speed, storage, or agility required to implement cloud, Big Data, and other virtualized or analytical services. There's just not enough flexibility in the current network system to make the leap that transformation requires – but that's about to change.
