Preserving the Lectures of Christmas Past

Preserving the Lectures of Christmas Past

One of the best loved holiday traditions in Britain are the annual Christmas Lectures of the Royal Institution in London. Since 1825 children and their parents have been enchanted by presentations of scientific and mathematical exploration delivered by the premier scientists of the day. Since 1966 these lectures have aired at Christmas time on the BBC. Now, with the help of EMC, as winners of this year's Heritage Trust award, the Royal Institution will embark on a digitization project that will make these invaluable lectures available online to a global audience. EMC is also helping with the hunt for 10 lectures missing from the BBC vaults in hope that the public may assist in locating copies.
