New Year Brings New IT Channel Training Offerings from CompTIA

CompTIA, the non-profit association for the information technology (IT) industry, today announced the availability of new training resources for IT channel companies interested in starting or expanding their practices in legal IT services, social media, virtualization and other fast-growing technologies and markets.

Transitioning to Managed Services is the newest 10-Week Guide available from CompTIA. This guide offers a series of steps that a technology solution provider business can take to get a managed services practice up and running.

“The managed services guide is based on the insights of industry experts as well as industry-accepted best practices,” said Kelly Ricker, senior vice president, events and education, CompTIA. “Solution providers can combine these actionable steps with elements unique to their own businesses to create a course of action that leads to growth and success in the managed services market.”

Customer interest in managed services continues to grow. A 2011 CompTIA study found that 62 percent of end users plan to increase their spending on managed services over the next two years, targeting areas such as security, web site hosting, network administration and IT support.

Also available from CompTIA are 10-Week Guides on cloud computing, health IT, building an IT security practice, starting a legal IT services practice and unified communications.

CompTIA also introduced six new Quick Start Guides – on virtualization, legal IT services, social enterprise, social media tactics and the CompTIA Security and MSP Partners trustmarks.

Each Quick Start Guides offer a comprehensive overview of market opportunities; industry best practices; advice from those who have been successful in a particular business segment; and a checklist of resources to help build an IT practice.

The CompTIA Quick Start Guide to Legal IT Services covers the legal culture and common IT challenges and work processes encountered in the legal environment. The guide helps solution providers identify the best opportunities in the legal market for their particular business and offers tips on how to deliver best-in-class services to legal clients.

The movement toward greater virtualization of IT infrastructure continues at a strong pace, with more businesses looking to expand their use of this technology and apply it to other facets of existing and legacy systems. The CompTIA Quick Start Guide to Virtualization can help solution providers craft a virtualization service offering; and articulate to customers the benefits a robust virtualization solution can provide.

The CompTIA Quick Start Guide to Social Enterprise and the CompTIA Quick Start Guide to Social Media Tactics provide insights into the role IT channel companies can play in helping customers use social media as an increasingly vital component of day-to-day business operations.

Other newly published titles include Quick Start Guides to help IT solution providers prepare to apply for CompTIA’s business-level credentials – the CompTIA Security Trustmark and CompTIA MSP Partners Trustmark.

Three other Quick Start Guides – on managed services, managed print services and health IT – have been updated with new content from industry experts.

The new and updated training guides are a part of the full portfolio of channel training, including live workshops, printed and downloadable training guides and business credentials, available from CompTIA. IT vendors and distributors interested in delivering CompTIA’s educational content to their channel partners may do so at no charge.
